determination

This book has another valuable lesson which is determination. Each and every member of the Joad family had to deal with something very difficult. Tom had to go into hiding. Rose of Sharon had a stillborn baby, and she was left by her husband. Grandpa had to leave his hometown where he had lived his whole life. Uncle John lost his wife because he would not take her to the doctor. Ma lost her mom and had to take care of everyone. Pa had to put his pride aside and let Ma help him make major decisions. They all had to look for money, food, and jobs to continue going. If any member of the family had given up, the survival would have been impossible. I think this is a great lesson because a lot of people give up on things if they are too hard or time consuming. Not everything in life comes easily and patience and determination are key.
