Pa Joad
Pa is Tom's father. He is a farmer and has lived in Oklahoma his whole life. He and his family were evicted from their home, and were forced to move else where. He is the one that actually got the family moving in the direction of California. He loves his family very much. Once they get to California, they have horrible luck finding support and money. Ma begins to take over his roll and steps into his place.
Ma Joad
She is a very strong women. She can do anything she puts her mind to. She cooks dinner and takes care of the family. She does most of the housework and helps Rose of Sharon through with her pregnancy. She overtakes Pa's authority, which was very unusual because men were in charge of the household decisions. She is very level-headed and helps keep members of the family sane. She is very loving and caring and she will do anything for her family.
