Chapter 17
This chapter was about family. It told the Story of how these people that didn't know each other came together and survived. Thy all became part of a kind of extended family. Try slot ate and moved together. I think this is great because they were all going through the same things so thy could all understand each other and help each other out.
Chapter 18
This chapter is about the family making it to california. They made it to a desert where they stopped to rest so thy could finish the ride over night. Some folks told pa that california was horrible and they would be struggling for food every night. Pa says they will still go on. The women are in a cave with grandma and some religious people want them to join them for a meeting. Ma turns them down and feels bad afterward a policeman comes knocking on their door and says okies aren't welcome there. The wilsons tell them to go on without them because sairi is sick and can't go on anymore. They leave and on the way they stop to fill up their tank. The people said they were dirty for traveling in a jalopy and they didn't know any better. Again in the night a cop stops them and wants to search their things. Ma pleads with them and shows them grandma. They let them move on. They make it to q beautiful place with fruit and trees and green grass. Ma reveals that grandma has been dead since right before the cops stopped them. They are really happy to be there and they talk about how Tom has grown up a lot
