Grapes of Wrath chapters 27-30

Chapter 27
This chapter is about cotton pickers. It's okay money and it would last a long time if so many people didn't come and want to pick cotton. They have to record their weights of the cotton or the scale runners will try to cheat them out of several pounds. They have plenty of people working but they keep having more people come which is not a good thing because then people will be fighting for cotton and the job will go too quickly and the people won't get paid as much

Chapter 28

In this chapter the family seems to be making a lot of money. They go to the store and get a Loy of food. Ruthie tells a girl abort Tom and ma worries a lot. She makes a trip out to want him and she ends up sending him away. On the way home ma runs into a man who needs workers for cotton. The family agrees to go in the morning. Al and their neighbor decide to get married. In the morning both families go to pick cotton and come back. Rosaharn is cold and shaking and they make her get inside. The light a fire and everybody comes together and waits for the rain to pass

Chapter 29

This chapter was about rain and how it flooded the land everywhere. Many people were living in very wet conditions and all their possessions were wet. The field were flooded which meant no work which meant no food. Many died and people became desperate for food. They began begging for rotten vegetables and more cops had to be hired to keep it in control. The rain stopped and spring begins to come.

Chapter 30
This chapter is about the rain and the family getting soaked. Rose is in labor and the men are trying to dig a ditch to keep the rain out. Rose has her baby but it is stillborn. Uncle john let's it float down the stream in a bag when he was suppose to bury it. The boxcar begins to flood and they must move to another place. Al stays with aggie and the family goes upland into a barn. The barn is dry and there is a man and a boy in there. The man is starving and he needs milk. They are so desperate that the story ends with rose giving the man her breast milk.
